Sliperiet and WILLAS contemporary presents Photographs, an exhibition by Anton Corbijn, one of the most influential image-makers of our time. Opening 16 of May 2026, the exhibition marks Corbijn’s first presentation at Sliperiet, showcasing a careful selection of works that trace his distinctive visual journey.

Renowned for his understated and deeply human photographic language, Corbijn’s work balances vulnerability and stillness with a profound sense of presence. Since the late 1970s, he has redefined how we perceive music, cinema, and fame, portraying cultural icons such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Joy Division, Patti Smith, Ai Weiwei, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave and Tom Waits.

Through natural light and simple composition, Corbijn captures moments that feel both intimate and timeless. The exhibition at Sliperiet reveals his rare ability to create emotional proximity — in portraits that transcend image-making to become meditations on identity, creative life, and time itself.

Not in my wildest dreams did I imagine that, seventeen years after embarking on the most adventurous journey of my life, Sliperiet, I would have the privilege of presenting an exhibition by Anton Corbijn himself. Corbijn’s aesthetics and imagery have guided me through the years as both a photographic compass and an artistic anchor. His work has shaped how I see people, not only through his musical connections or the countless icons he has portrayed, but through his ability to reveal the honest and vulnerable essence within us all. It’s in that fragile, human space beneath the surface that life truly becomes interesting.
