The Nobel Peace Prize medal is shown in all its glory in the Medal Chamber. Here, visitors can experience the world's foremost symbol of peace.

The Peace Prize Medal was designed by Gustav Vigeland in 1901, and is in 18-carat gold. The medals that are produced for each new Peace Prize laureate and awarded at Oslo City Hall are still the same design.

The medal on display belonged to Christian Lous Lange, the first Norwegian Peace Prize laureate. In 2021, it will be 100 years since he was awarded the prize, and as a celebration of the centenary, the Nobel Peace Center has opened a brand new exhibition featuring Lange's original medal from 1921.
